Community College Students

Where to Start

As of spring 2019 the Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD) serves 28,343 students! Three community colleges are situated throughout the Ventura County area, and within the larger California Community College System there are a total of 115community colleges in 73 districts. Just north of Ventura County is Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara City College serves 16,120 students.

A Historical Ventura Community College District Overview

As of Fall 2010 the Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD) serves 34,976 students! Wow, that’s a bigger undergraduate student population than UCLA! Three community colleges are situated throughout the Ventura County area, and within the larger California Community College System there are a total of 112 community colleges in 72 districts. Just north of Ventura County is Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara City College serves 19,672 students.

The following is a brief description of each of the community colleges in Ventura County and Santa Barbara City College, Check this out:

Moorpark College: is located in the eastern part of Moorpark. The campus opened September 11, 1967. This campus is the second-oldest and largest of the three campuses. It is said to be one of the most beautiful community colleges in California. A unique aspect of this campus is that they have their own exotic animal compound and an observatory!

Oxnard College: is located in the heart of Ventura County. Founded in 1975, it is the newest of the three community colleges in Ventura County. It is also in the largest city in the county with a wide range of multicultural diversity making it one of the most energetic!

Ventura College: has been part of the northern seaside community since 1925. This campus has an enrollment of 14,500 students. It is also located about 30 miles south of Santa Barbara County and 60 miles north of Los Angeles County.

Santa Barbara City College: opened in 1909 making it one of the oldest community colleges in California. Located in city of Santa Barbara, the campus is situated on a 74-acre bluff, the Santa Barbara Mesa, overlooking the harbor and Pacific Ocean.
